Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?

No. Do My Hair has no account, no login and no in-app purchases. Open the app, allow the camera, and the first hairstyle appears on you.

Does it work without an internet connection?

The hairstyles are delivered by Snap Camera Kit from Snap’s servers, so you need a connection the first time a hairstyle loads. If the app says it couldn’t load the hairstyles, check your connection and tap Retry.

What does Snap receive?

Hairstyles are rendered by Snap Camera Kit, a component from Snap Inc. According to Snap’s privacy manifest, it sends Snap data that is not linked to your identity and not used to track you: app usage, a device identifier, performance and crash data and, to run the hairstyles, images, head and hand movements and information about the filmed surroundings. The details are in our privacy policy and in Snap’s own policy.

Why does the app ask for camera and Photos access?

The camera shows the hairstyles on you, live. Photos access is requested only the first time you tap Save, and only to add your photo or video: the app never reads your library. Microphone access is never requested (videos have no sound), and neither is your location.

Where are my photos and videos?

Each photo or video stays in the app until you save it to Photos or share it. If you tap the cross on the result screen, it is deleted; anything left is deleted the next time the app starts.

How do I delete my data?

Delete the app: nothing is stored on a server. The photos and videos you saved to Photos remain yours. For data received by Snap, see Snap’s privacy policy.

The hairstyle looks off on my face. Is that normal?

Do My Hair shows a preview, not a promise: the result at the salon depends on your hair and your stylist. For a better preview, face the light and keep your hair pulled back.
