Methodology and sources

Last updated:

In short: the guides on do-my-hair.com are written by the team that makes the Do My Hair app, from sources we cite at the bottom of each page, checked before publication and dated. They help you choose a hairstyle and explain it at the salon. They are not professional hairdressing or medical advice, and the app shows a preview, not the real result.

1. Who writes

The guides are signed “the Do My Hair editorial team”. That is the editorial signature of the app’s publisher, INFINI CONSULTING (Infini Apps), a French single-shareholder company whose details are in the legal notice; the guides are written and checked by the publisher. We are not hairdressers or dermatologists. Our texts are documentary syntheses: they report what professional bodies, hairdressing schools, professional brands and published studies say, with links to those sources.

2. How the preview is made, and what it cannot show

In the app, a 3D hairstyle is drawn over the image of your front camera by Snap Camera Kit, a component from Snap Inc. It follows your head as you move, so you can see the shape, the length and the color of a hairstyle on your own face, from the front and in profile, and keep a photo or a video of up to 15 seconds for your stylist.

It is a preview. It does not reproduce the texture, the density or the natural movement of your own hair, nor how a style will fall once it is actually cut and styled. Whether a hairstyle suits your hair, and how to adapt it, is your stylist’s call. We write “a preview, not the real result” wherever the app appears, and we mean it. Your photos and videos leave the app only when you save or share them.

3. Our sources

Each guide cites its sources at the bottom of the page, with a link when the document is online:

  • Professional bodies: hairdressing federations and trade associations, for consultation practices, salon figures and vocabulary.
  • Hairdressing schools, hair brands and salon chains: their guides on consultation, techniques and terms.
  • Dermatology societies and peer-reviewed publications, when a guide touches hair or scalp health.
  • Quality press, for reported practices, always attributed as such.

We do not use the blogs of other hairstyle apps, social media boards or AI-generated pages as sources.

4. How we check

  • Before writing: every figure, rule and practice is looked up in the original source. When it only exists in a secondary source, the text says so.
  • Before publication: several separate re-reads, each with one angle: spelling and grammar in each language, facts against the sources, honesty about what the app does, technical checks of the page. The English guides are written for readers everywhere, and the French guides for France; they are not translations of each other.
  • Visible dates: each guide shows its last update, repeated in its structured data. When a source changes, the guide is revised and its date updated.

5. Images

No real face appears on this site without the written consent of the person. Screenshots of the app are labeled as previews. We do not publish “before and after” photos, and we do not reuse images from magazines or social networks.

6. Information, not advice

Our guides describe what sources say about hairstyles, consultations and salon vocabulary. They do not take your situation into account. For hair loss, scalp conditions or any health concern, see a doctor or a dermatologist; for what your hair can do, ask your stylist.

7. Report an error

A mistake, an outdated source, a figure to check? Write to contact@do-my-hair.com with the page address and the source you believe is right. We check, correct, and update the page’s date.
